Up for air... or is a new blogpost a dive instead?
Mounting the inaugural summer of the AIR,CAT (Artist in Residency, Catalunya) was consuming in the best sense of the word. Four weeks from the middle of June to July, old friends Gerard Smulevich and I --plus the program participants/invitees Alberto Barcia Fernández and Avital Yomdin-- rode waves of intensity, exposures, events, objectives, changing circumstances, setbacks that were in the end only apparent and resulted in more fabulousness, appreciation and generosity from the people of Tossa, outpourings of new things to learn and discover -from the people themselves- about Tossa de Mar.
So, I will tell you all the whole story, starting at the end.
The opening, the inaugural show of AIR,CAT 2019. The following photos were shot by Alejandro Ortubia Arnó at the opening festivities. I first met Alejandro when he was just 7 years old. It's wonderful to see the lad become a man. Currently in a university, he's pursuing a film career. He likes to travel to such places as Kazakhstan and that particular region, he's fascinating to talk to. I like his shots because his eye is yet innocent, this is his first such event to document, and we gave no direction. As a result, we see images of an exhibition, blended with the viewers, people.
Fused.
